5A – Identifying Local Opportunities

Ultra Music Festival Terminates Agreement With Miami, Will Move Elsewhere in South Florida

The Ultra music festival will leave Virginia Key in key biscayne as its home after one year as the experiment to move it outside of biscayne bay in brickell did not work. There were many issues involving traffic and safety which led organizers and lawyers to move is back to its original home and away from the marine stadium which did not have the infrastructure to hold an event of that magnitude.
-Organizers are looking to hold an event that is not easy to hold due to the image electronic dance music holds in today's society. Ultra known as one of the top festivals for electronic dance music and with its known use of drugs and alcohol it can be hard to sway city officials to hold the event.
-Organizers and city commissioners trying to hold a festival that will create revenue for the city of miami

Commuters concerned about shortage of parking spaces in Metrorail garages

The city of miami has grown in scale drastically but the parking lots that hold cars for people using the transportation system the city provides has not.It has created issues as the number of people using public transportation system has risen by over 25% in the following years.
- In the following years if the current trend continues there will not be enough parking for people trying to use the public transportation systems in the city of miami.

- Both the city and commuters have a problem as commuters are scared that they will not be able to use the public transportation system with ease and the city had no reasonable answer to the public's worry about the lack of parking spaces the city provides.

South Florida's Housing Affordability Crisis Among Worst In Nation

The increase in housing costs across miami has caused housing for people that do not earn a high wage to spend more than 30% of their income on rent yearly. It is starting to cause Miami to look like New York and Los Angeles in comparison to the housing crisis. Developers are continuing to build high rent apartments which are not being filled and causing families that cannot afford the apartments to be pushed into renting and paying insane amounts for rent.

- The increase of wealthy developers coming into miami has caused minority families to spend a lot of their income on rent which has left them less money to support they're family.
- Minority families have the issue that the cost of living in miami is not going down anytime soon and if the incomes of the families do not increase they may be forced out of the city of miami because they cannot pay a reasonable amount of rent to live in the area.

$500 Million For Miami From Super Bowl LIV? Try $50 Million

The city of miami will spend millions on resources and effort on the big game this weekend and the city will revenue only 1 tenth of the projected revenue when it took the responsibility to host the game. People come to miami to vacation if the Superbowl was intown or not compared to when the game is held in Minneapolis or atlanta. The city of Minneapolis made over 400 millions dollars when they held the Superbowl but that is because no one visits the city especially in these frigid months.
-The city has put in tons of effort to host the Super Bowl that will only make them marginal profits after years of preparing to host visitors and the big game.
-City Commissioners have the issue of promising the city another profitable project involving sports like the New Marlins park that was built in 2012. The NFL has the issue of trying to have popular cities host the big game since it will not create enough of an economic

Miami Rolls Out A Resiliency Plan. It Will Include Overhauling The Aging Stormwater System.

The city of miami plans to overhaul its flooding protocols that belong to the city due to the sea level rise and concern of climate change. They have mapped out a variety of changes they can make to the cities infrastructure to keep the sea water from over running the city.
- The planning of fixing the problem of continuous sea level rise and what actions could be taken to protect the city against the continuous rise and concern for citizens.
- The citizens of miami and elected officials need to have a plan to combat this issue by creating plans if the city has to face the current issues that are projected by the city. Climate change affects everyone.

3A – Your Entrepreneurship Story

I was exposed to entrepreneurship at a young age when I was given a project in middle school to create a medical product that could be used in the future once the technology became available . It was the first time where I was asked to create a product that was not only completely original but as well realistic . We created a medical device that would be injected into patience and would monitor the data of the patient including heart rate and any type of data that could give a patient a warning if there was something wrong with there body. The idea came from my best friend's father at the time who would in medicinal technology for his day time job. The idea came in 2007  when there was no way to monitor common information about your body by just having a watch on your wrist. Today you can monitor common information about your body with the use of wearable technology . Wearable technology would not make my product obsolete but it would most likely make me develop the product we created to be able to give you more information about your body that wearable technology would not be able to.

4A – Forming An Opportunity Belief

I believe the access to healthy food options around gainesville near campus is very limited and can create students having to eat unhealthy expensive foods around campus.

The access to cheap healthy, and diverse  food options around campus is very limited.  All students who look to have a healthy diet and are either unable to cook or have the time to cook after a long day at the library. Students are involved in very intense classes that takes up there entire day leaving them to come home to very salted frozen foods or ramen. . The need for better food establish  has become more prevalent now as eating healthier is more trendy . Students and young adults are trying to eat healthier. Find healthier options at the supermarket or find restaurants that can provide them with healthy cheap options. I know several people that do not enjoy the food options around campus that leave them either hungry or un apetized . With GrillFresh being gone from the gainesville community it leaves a big whole in the options students had in order to eat healthy food.

Customer 1

This customer is a student and has just left the library after a long day of studying. They are hungry and notice that the only restaurants that are open provide overpriced junk food and do not feel like walking across a dark campus to go to the closest publix. The student is left hungry and knows they are walking home to a dorm filled with ramen noodles that are not healthy provide them with the nutrition that a hard working student needs. The customer would like the university to provide more options to those that stay at the library passed the hours that food establishments are open.

Customer 2

This customer is very tired after a long night of studying and is looking for a nutritious breakfast. The student can either go the nearest POD on campus or find a starbucks that usually takes at least 20 minutes. The  student says the need for a nutritious breakfast other than a candy bar is important to have a productive rest of the day after turning in a big project the night before. He also says that any place that does provide breakfast other than chains around or near campus are very expensive to the students of the University of florida.

Customer 3

This customer is always hungry around campus and finds the food to be unappetizing at any time during the day around campus. He finds that BTW is too expensive, Publix is too far, and the food served at midtown is either too expensive or considered drunk food. The customer has been around gainesville for more than a couple of years and is sick of the same options everyday and the lack of options due to closing establishments. The customer would love for the city of gainesville to encourage more food establishments to move into the city in order to feed its students.

Coming up with the list was very challenging for me because you often do not realize what bugs you, until it actually bugs you. The things that bug  me are the things I don't expect to happen in my daily life because they are not justified. It usually happens as a result of a person's selfishness and disregard for others. The example of people not putting weights back after using them at the gym is one of the things that I did not realize would bug me until I realized how annoying it was to look through the gym for a specific set of dumbells that someone did not place back on the rack where they should be. At the gym, the proper etiquette is to leave the weights on the rack after using them, so they are easy to find and accessible to the next user. Trying to think about situations that bother me was not easy because I had to think of situations that have happened and bother me when they happened.  Situations that bug people are not easy to think of because they actually do not bother someone until it happens. Normally one isn’t thinking about the time or times a person does not use their turn signal. Usually one thinks about it for a minute when it happens, complains about how the drivers are bad in that town, and then continues on with the day. Bugs are not every day thoughts, but situations that can bug you when they happen..
