My exit strategy is hopefully to sell the business for a reasonable return.Every business has its life cycle and when I deem it time for it to be sold I will sell for funds for a new company. I would like to get bought out by a bigger company in order to have a lot of funds and maybe go into a different industry.  As a college student I would need capital especially coming out of school to fund a new project. Finding new capital for my new company would most likely be my next move once I cover startup costs with the money I made from selling the old company.

I read Steve Jobs. His determination to get things done was what surprised me the most about his journey. He went back to apple after leaving them because he believed his idea was possible and he could bring the company back from a dark period. His story is remarkable because everyone knows the base of his story about how he brought apple . He, like most college students, struggled in school and had to rework his priorities. Steve has accomplished  a lot but that only came with changing his mentality. He was great with every company he worked for but was a business guy . If he saw something that was not fit he would tell people and was not afraid to tell people about his opinions. With apple he wanted to show innovation without clutter and thats where the idea of the original iphone came from .How did you see failure ? What you did with apple is it possible to do it with another company?

26A

Ive failed many times this semester but I never look at failure as a bad thing in the scheme of things. Failure is part of life in the sense that you can never succeed at something if you can't accept failing at it at first. You have to learn from failure to make sure the next time you have the opportunity to succeed you do. The one failure I have in the past semester is failing to have my priorities in order. I failed an exam because I decided to put my time into another activity  for something I thought would be beneficial for me . Not only did the activity not benefit me I failed my exam badly. I learned that you should always put your priorities in the order that you know you will reap the benefits of putting effort into . I will always study my exam first as I know if I had studied more for my exam I would have done better . Failure for me has never been hard for me as I look at it as something I did not as something that defines me. The next opportunity is the most thing once you have failed.

25A

Currently I am targeting a middle to lower class.People can afford houses and have some extra money to get there drink outside of the house which would allow for them to use my straw at a establishment. I think the commercial market is very much the target I should put my focus on to next. I think commercial places will focus on distribution and will show everyone how great my product is. The value is created by people that do not use the straw on a dialy basis. The value becomes a need and can be seen as a everyday product with the right exposure. If I was to target a poorer market I would try to help them get the product into they're hands and convince them this is just anothere grocery item we need in the house or to help advertise the product . It wont immediately increase my profit margins but over the long run will spread awareness of my product
I think I could sell to a poorer market I can see if the market is big enough to warrant investing money to make a cheaper but less enjoyable straw that will try to mimic the product we want to use for commercial use. I would only cater to different markets if the profit was there overtime . If there is no profit to be made by expansion the resources are better used elsewhere.
I interviewed two people from a poorer part of society. One was a 21 year old man who is middle class and a 25 year old girl who is part of the lower class.
From these two interviews I learned a lot. I learned what they would like to see from my company coming from a poorer background. Two things I took from these interviews is that the cost of everything for everyone no matter the economic class.
From these two interviews I learned a lot. I learned what they would like to see from my company coming from multiple backgrounds. Two things I took from these interviews was that they would like straws that are cheap and last for longer than 5 minutes in a drink. So my solution to this is just to have straws that are affordable, last  long, and are not a mess. I was not really surprised by this. I kind of expected them to answer this why. Straws are about enjoyment, cost, and usability. My product aims for that.

24A

  • What are the forces or changes in the environment creating this opportunity?
    • There are many things in the current social environment that creates the opportunity for my product. The enjoyment of your drink can change your whole day. It can change how much coffee you consume , which can lead to how much energy. Changes like covid 19 could make my product less popular as people are drinking from outside there homes which means they will not use the straw we provided.
  • How is this market defined geographically and demographically?
    • This market is large geographically. The market is anyone who consumes a drink with a straw. The demographic is not limited by my product either. By definition my product provides anyone that uses a straw the experience they used to have with plastic.
  • How are customers currently satisfying this need?  And how loyal are they to whatever they use now?
    •  Right now customers need this by using a paper straw which they do not want to use based off my countless interviews or are using a lid which you can consume your drink directly without a straw. The reason my product is relevant is because  the consumers are dealing with it but truly miss their experience with a plastic straw.
    • The only loyal customers are those that approve of the eco-friendliness of the straws. My product will continue to provide that benefit and give them the old experience they had with plastic straws.
  • How long will the “window of opportunity” be open?
    • As long as no one put out a product that is even more eco friendly than mine the window of opportunity will always be there. Straws are a necessity in life and there's a reason they have never been replaced.
Innovation.

My innovation is a straw which you can drink out of and be eco friendly at the same time. When you use my straw you will understand the purpose for my product which has been missed by many recently. With my product my straw becomes the best option to enjoy your beverage out of . The paper straw never was a good enough product to release on its own and was released because there was. We will be constantly changing the straws and making sure we are using the most efficient and eco friendly materials to stick by the purpose of our product. I hope to be able to sell these in stores and online in the future and make subscription type programs for those that enjoy out product.
Venture Concept.
  • What are the reasons to think customers would switch to this new product?  How hard will it be to get them to switch?
    •  Paper straws were put on the market to please a small minority and was not made for commercial use. People hate there soggy drinks and drinks that get wasted due to the paper getting in there drink. The switch will be easy as we bring the best experience of drinking back with our straws. People will notice how nice it is to have their normal and eco friendly straw option at restaurants and coffee shops.
  • Who are the competitors?  What are their possible weaknesses or vulnerabilities?
    • Our competitor is amazon and other online websites that do sell straws but haven't made them eco friendly or are not cost effective to the point where they can be mass produced to make a profit. There are other straw companies but the most important concept is making them in bulk at a low costs where restaurants and coffee shops can order them for a low enough price in order to use them. Corporate companies will not make the change to other straws if they cannot offer a straw at a similar or lower price.Money is everything and my product is everything you need in order to be mass produce,
    • What role does packaging, your price points, distribution, customer support, the customer experience or the business location play (if any) in defining your business concept?
Cost of packaging will be kept at minimum to ensure we are profitable. Distribution will be the way we succeed. The more people want to buy the product the better.. I want to ensure our product it in the correct condition. My price point and experience define my business product.
  • How would you organize a “business” to support the ongoing production of your new product, service, or process? How many employees? What roles are in the venture?
    •  Expansion would be the way to support ongoing product . However I think that greed is your enemy. If you get to big your profits can go down and customers will suffer also from this. I want this to be a small company with good profits. Keep costs low and the amount of straws being made and distributed high. Those are the roles I would only take on more money and endeavors if I see the business striving and not losing its quality while it grows.
The three minor elements
Besides your actual innovative product, service, or process, what will you have that will make it hard for competitors to copy your success?
The material we use to make the straws cannot be remade as it is patented therefore they would need to make a whole new product that is cheap and eco friendly. I believe it would be near impossible to copy my product and have be as low cost and eco friendly as it is.

Second, what’s next for the venture? Describe either the next opportunity you want to tackle with your current innovation, or describe the next new product, service, or process that may be aimed at your existing customers.
My next venture is just to keep expanding our product. Using different color straws and maybe different fruits and vegetables to keep bringing the cost of my overall product down.It would be to keep innovating and never let comfortable with my product the way it is. There will always be a way to have a better product and I have to make sure I'm always ahead of my competitors.
Third, what’s next for you? Assuming you launched, where do you want to be in five years with this venture? Where do you want to be, as an entrepreneur, in the next decade, and how does this first venture help you achieve your vision?

In five years I want this venture to be profitable and have a power customer base.I want to keep the company simple. I want to keep customers happy and proud to support my dream. I hope to be what the plastic straw was for may years which was irreplaceable

Sorry did not have proper clothing and had to use an old computer because I left my school material in my dorm.

I realized that the proper materials are needed to have a stellar elevator pitch. Without the regular materials I was not as ready as I should have been for this one. I still want to learn how to improve it as it will be very valuable to me going forward.

21A

I delved into The Art of Social Media by Guy Kawasaki
1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The general theme of the book was how to be better to improve your behavior on social media and how your behavior affects your image.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
This book as able to enhance my learning in class while as well teaching myself rules for my own social media use. I was glad to delve into this book since I am doing a straw service for my company and the social media response is a great part of my plan. I believe the knowledge I learned will not only help me today but down the line when I start my own buisness
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
I would have everyone tweet, with a picture and the first 10 hashtags that come to hand when thinking of good and proper internet behavior. I would then go through each post and discuss with the class why each #that the student provided would be beneficial towards them and they're business. Then afterwards I would do the same thing with 10 negative hashtags.
4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?

Pictures are the most important thing on social media because you give whoever is seeing it on social media an image to think about and if good enough leave in the person's head for the rest of the day. Imagery is a huge part of social media because it makes people judge and think very hard about the image they just saw.

1) Who they are and what their background is.
The first person is Mike he is manufactured in the straw industry. He has been in the buisness of producing mass amounts of products for years. He has seen hoe the industry has changed over the years to adapt to be in favor of the public eye.
2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domain expert, market expert, supplier), and how the person fills the spot. I am filling the supplier expert slot with mike. Mike has lots of experience in knowledge in the industry so I believed he was a good fit.
3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person.
I did some research and have been contacting him throughout the week.
4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?
He gave some pros and cons on my idea.He thought it was a good idea as long as the public enjoys the product like the public enjoyed plastic straws.I do not know yet.
5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity? Mike is a valuable contact in my network, he has experiences, knowledge, and the understanding in the industry that I do not have.
1) Who they are and what their background is.
The next person I met with is adam, who is a analysis/marketing for a small coffee shop in my home town. He has been working in the coffee business for about a year now.
2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domain expert, market expert, supplier), and how the person fills the spot.
Adam is filling the market expert slot. This person fills the spot because he knows the market very well since he looks at it every day.
3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. Bryan is my cousin. I went to local coffee shops and started asking if anyone had any market experience in the coffee business.
4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation? He was very helpful in answering any questions I had. He liked the idea as customers in his shop were frustrated with the recent decision to ban plastic straws.
5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity? Adding adam into my network helps me get more experience in the marketing scene and allows me to further branch my idea of avocado seed based straws.
1) Who they are and what their background is.
Joshua is a  domain expert  in this field. He has been working in the supply chain industry for  20 years in italy and finally retired last year.
2) Which 'slot' you are filling with each person (i.e., domain expert, market expert, supplier), and how the person fills the spot. He is a domain expert and his knowledge in the business will be a great tool to take advantage of.
3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. Joshua is a relative of mine and I asked it he could help me.
4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation? I asked him questions about how the industry works and why it hasn't evolved from plastic straws.
5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity?
Including this person in my network helps me out by being able to ask questions about history, demand, and why the public eye is the only eye that matters.

This was a good experience for me to meet some many people . I believe it will be very helpful to have these connections. It made me search hard for people in the industry or people that had an idea that could help my idea.

Hello my name is Ted Fernandez. I am a 22 years old student at the University of Florida. I am a SPM major. My talents include golfing and playing basketball. I have experience in the industry of sports. I have worked at a marketing group based in miami ,fl. So I have some knowledge in the industry of spreading new products. I hope to one day become a entrepreneur. I see this business playing a big role in my life if I were to start it. I have a lot of interest in the making the lives of people easier.
I am offering the idea to replace paper straws with an eco-friendly material such as avocado seed based straws. This is solving customers' unmet needs because they will be able to conveniently have the experience of drinking coffee or a drink they used to have with plastic straws instead of sogg paper straws that get very soggy. The avocado seed straws gives the experience of plastic straw without the waste.
My demographic customers are people who have their daily drink with a sny straw that does not give them the experience that a plastic straw would give the user. The psychographic is people who have an interest in drinking anytype of drink with a straw. People who love they're drinks and have a preference for what type of straw they use. All my customers have in common an interest in drinking coffee with a good experience.
Customers will use my service because it offers convenience to customers to have their coffee. They will be able to find new experience with the avocado seed straw that they may not have known existed. It takes the worries away from them having to drive to the store to buy a drink and it to be ruined by the time it gets back.
What sets this business apart from everyone else is that no one offers a solution to paper straws that can be used at the commercial level. This provides convenience to customers to help them make there drink taste better and last longer. It will add pleasure to there life knowing they don't have to stress how fast they drink their drink. They will not have to worry which straws will be available when they order there drink and would not have to worry about cleaning a straw every morning.
I believe these five elements all fit together well. I think the elements of customers blends with why they care. My typical customer has a interest in there drinking experience so they care about this since it will help them make enjoying drinks easier. Some aspects that I see are weak is I do not know if customers will want a have drinks daily .They may only need a straw when they are drinking something. I also do not know if people have a need for this straws. The idea is flexible no matter how many drinkers may use straws in the more.

The two main points I took was that I should go into more detail about the idea. Another point I took away was that I should have to be more clear about what my product is and what i'm selling. It still maybe unclear to some that the avocado seed straws is the product that I am selling.Im fixed that with my idea napkin.

What stood out to me most in my elevator pitch is my use of vocabulary. I think the most important is to demonstrate the magnitude.  I was surprised by all the feedback I got. I definitely have certain aspects to improve upon. I thought this was helpful to see what I was doing wrong. I tried to starts from nothing and rebuild my elevator pitch as I believe it would help it as a whole.

The avatar I have created is a busy entrepreneur man or woman trying to stay moving and enjoy there drink . A entrepreneur who wants to collect there coffee in the morning and get back to work. He/She is interested in getting there next job or raise . They want to be able to have a nice drink using a reliable straw that will not fail them after several minutes of use. They want to go to work and have there straw still in there drink from the day before and still be able to use it. They do not have time to worry about the straw they use or if it would be good enough . I think this avatar looks like a lot of the people I know . They are the future of america.

I believe what makes me different is the way I handle certain situations. I always try to have a positive and try to make the most with what i'm given. I think this is important aspect of me. I handle problems with trying to make a plan for every issue and how to move forward from it . I use my emotions and ambition to stay active. I try to be positive when taking on a difficult situation its not always easy but being optimistic makes me who I am.

Mark said I was a considerate guy and most people would be lucky to have
Dylan, said I was a hard worker
Bobby said I would be a great person .
Asam, in his interview went to talk about my people skills and selflessness.
Hunter went on passed experiences I had in his interview

I see myself similar to how others see me. I think people believe I handle my emotions better than how I think I do. I believe that the interviews do have correct assumptions about me in the aspect that I show values to be a good entrepreneur. I think the reason others believe I handle my emotions better is because I don't show my emotions around others.

15A

After conducting several  interviews I came up with a variety of alternatives for my customers. My customers seem to not care about the price as much as they do the experience when using the correct straw. My customers are paying for the luxury and convenience which seem to be the most important factors when choosing a straw  . The two factors the quality and how well it can compare to a normal plastic straw. My segment is more likely to use my straw in situations where they are provided straws. Such as restaurants or food establishments that require them to enjoy your meal . They will be granted the product or could be bought like any straw today.
What helps the customer determine if changing their straws was a good idea is how much they enjoy the variation of the straw and, if they would rather keep it over the paper straws. . The type of things they would think the purchase was a bad idea was if they didn't see the benefit from changing away from the paper straw.  I interviewed five people from the ages of 18- 27. They all had some different views on what they thought would be important to keeping my idea of avocado seed straws ahead of paper straws. Many of them said that quality would be more important than price. If they were worried about anything other than the quality of they're drinking experience they would point to the fact that since paper straws are so new that there maybe a big fan base of paper straws that I may not know about.
In my interviews I learned what the my potential customers would really want out of the service which is quality and convenience. They want they're drink to be enjoyable not soggy and un drinkable after 5 minutes. My customers are want the experience that the used to have and thats the point of my product as well as eliminating the use of paper straws in out daily drinks.

I used my ambition, dreams, and resourced to think outside the box. The course so far has brought to me so many ideas and concepts I haven't really thought about so far. Now im asking myself with every situation what can I solve, How can I make it better, will this develop in to a bigger issue down the road. The class has taught me how to critically problem solve for a group rather than myself.

The worst assignment so far was the bug assignment since it was just the beginning of the course. I had no idea what the class was remotely about. What helped me pull through is that I took the assignment slowly. I did it over the course of a few days and each day I just though of things that bugged me in my daily life. I looked at everything differently after that assignment. I was asking how many of these problems can I actually fix. Then looked at how my list would be drastically different if I did it today because I am now always seeking to fix a problem.

Three tips I would give are do not wait until the day of to do the assignments, do not be afraid to come back to the assignment with a fresh mind. It makes coming up with ideas easier. Another tip would be think of ideas that apply to more than just yourself . Try to improve other lives rather than just yours.

Elon Musk has accomplished many things in his life time and while reading the I learned more about the projects he took on and has taken on. I knew he had something to do with Spacex but never knew he was directly responsible for founding it.  His story to come from such a broken and poor family to become a powerful entrepreneur. He never took no for an answer and I find that particularly inspiring. He accomplishes ideas that people never think are possible. Such as with pay pal and electricity. What I least admire about him is how he can really put a burden on himself if none of his companies turn profitable after a certain amount of time. He spends all of his money accomplishing the next innovation but you will never know if his next investment is his first failure as an innovator . Elon has experienced this failure but like his childhood he never let that stop him  and will keep chasing his goals. I noticed that Elon exhibited competencies like determination, motivation, and innovation. He always saw there was a way some how to do whatever he wanted to accomplish. He accomplished most of the goals he set his mind too. I was confused also if he was setting these companies up to make profits for him or for him just to invite new things. He always wanted to improve56 the life of others as it seems first never his. His aspirations were based off of how can I make others life more efficient and change the world while i'm doing it.If I could ask him two questions, I would ask how he was able to dream so big? If you could do it over again what would you change? I think his opinion of hard work was just to never quit pursuing your dreams. Even when they seem to not be able to happen keep chasing them and they will.

The segment I have chosen is people in there 18-30s. I chose this group because I believe this is who would be the average user of my straw. I interviewed a 18 year old women, 23 year old women and a 28 year old man. All the people I interviewed goes to some type of shop saily to drink coffee. Everyone I interviewed all felt they had struggle with the new paper straws being implemented across town. They said as soon as they started using the straws they noticed how bad they were in quality and how there drinking experience as a whole faltered. Two of the interviews found that even with the different alternative of avocado seed straw they weren't interested in anything that was not plastic. Therefore there drinking experience would never be the same. All the interviewees wish they knew more about the avocado seed straw when I mentioned it as a solution to soggy paper straws.  In my interviews I learned a lot of this groups' needs. I found they wish they knew more about straws and how it is not an easy thing to produce new straws since plastic has been around forever. With innovation and time they will have there drinking experience back.

Who:
After my interviews, I discovered some more information on the opportunity that I did not think of before. The five people I interviewed ranged from 18-25 years old. In my interviews I found out that a lot of people are interested in a eco-friendly alternative to paper straws.  However some people do not know what type of straws would be available and better for the environment . So these people would maybe fall outside the target market to fix the problem. The solution to this is just to allows customers to use avocado seed straws in alternative to the paper straws. This way they have an alternative to the paper straws that get soggy after sitting in a drink for a while. Also not everyone is interested in using a different alternative straw to paper in general so they would be out of the boundary. The who is anyone who is interested in getting using an alternative to paper straws..
What: This opportunity is banking on the concept that people want the alternative to the paper straw. So if people do not care about their drinking experience using paper straws then they will not want a new straw. Unless they would like to have a new alternative. With this opportunity they can have different types of straw to use in alternative to paper. So they can use a straw that is not soggy .
Why: The cause of this issue comes at the ban of plastic straws around the country. The outside the boundary comes for the people that like the paper but the inside which is most of the people Interviewed do not do it due to its poor structure and drinking experience it gives them while drinking. Also some people do not care what type of straw they use which can put them on the inside or outside it is unclear. I do not think tis alternative will be for everyone . I do believe it will be for people who enjoyed they're coffee with plastic straws and do not have the same experience as with paper straws.
Inside the Boundary
Who is In - People who are unable to have the same experience using paper straws. Also anyone who would like a new alternative to plastic straws other than paper. People who use straws on a daily basis.
What the Need is - The need is people want new plants delivered to there house. If they just want new plants for their yard, porch, or kitchen. They want to try out new varieties of plants they may not have known existed.
Why the Need Exists - The need exists because not everyone has the access to an easy alternative to plastic straws.  Many people do not know why there is not an easy access alternative or where you go to find alternatives other than paper. The paper straw once it becomes country wide will cause problems and create the need to find a way to mass produce new straws .

Alternative Explanations - People may not care, want, or need this alternative. Paper straws could already be seen as eco-friendly enough to some. They could enjoy the paper straw experience and see if better than plastic
